The purpose of this message
is to alert you to the next 1-33 AR/CAV Veterans Reunion Group get together
at Fort Benning, GA 7-10 June 2012...arrive on Thursday, 7th with departure
on Sunday, the 10th and pass on the information I know at this time. Our
host unit will be the 194th AR Bde. The details for our visit will be worked
out over the next several months; however, we will spend Friday the 8th with
the Bde. We have asked for a briefing, a visit to the simulators for a
little hands-on experience, lunch with the troops, and whatever else we can
work out. I don't know if we can arrange any tank gunnery for our "dead eye"
gals but we might be able to observe some firing. Saturday, we'll have a
Memorial Service at the Infantry Museum Chapel or WWII Chapel on the Museum
grounds, have lunch with troops, and spend time at the museum followed by
the banquet Saturday Evening. The Post will not provide a bus as at
Campbell. I am looking into renting a bus, but still need to address this
with 194th action officer.
If nothing changes between now and June 2012,
ours will be the first Armor Unit Reunion handled by the Post PIO at Fort
Benning since the armor school moved.
We will be staying at the Holiday Inn North,
Exit 7, HWY 185, Columbus, GA. It will have a hospitality room as this
year...our banquet will be held at the same facility. It can handle 150
people. This should make it easier for everyone. A block of 25 rooms has
been set aside through 7 May 2012. Room costs are $79 per day plus tax. As
you know, this is $4.00 more then this year. It is important to make your
reservation prior to 7 May in order to take advantage of the blocked rooms
that have been set aside. I can always ask for more rooms prior to the cut
off period. Yes, I can ask after that date, but the good motels fill fast
with all the troops and their families moving in and out of Benning for
graduations, etc. So, please help us out here. I'd hate to think someone
didn't get the $79 rate because they failed to register by 7 May or everyone
waited until the last minute and we didn't have the opportunity to ask for
more rooms prior to the deadline. As you know, it is a lot easier to cancel
a reservation than get a room when few are available.

of another deceased member of the battalion, or can help us with the van
